Emergency services were called to Windsor Road in Northmead shortly after 5:30 a.m. on June 24 following reports of a serious two-vehicle crash. When police and paramedics arrived, they found the Toyota SUV heavily damaged and its driver trapped inside the vehicle.
Fire and rescue crews worked to free the occupant while NSW Ambulance paramedics provided urgent medical treatment at the scene. The driver was transported to Westmead Hospital in critical condition but later died from their injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending formal identification and notification of family members.
The driver of the flatbed truck, a 42-year-old man, was assessed at the scene before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing, a standard procedure following serious road incidents. Police have not indicated that any charges have been laid.
Following the crash, officers from Parramatta Police Area Command established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision. Specialists are expected to examine the vehicles involved, road conditions, and other evidence as they work to determine exactly what happened.
